Peels & Dermafile

If you're considering chemical peel...

Chemical peeling is a technique used to improve the appearance of the skin, which is typically performed on the face, neck or hands. In this treatment, a chemical solution is applied to the skin that causes it to "blister" and eventually peel off. The new, regenerated skin is usually smoother and less wrinkled than the old skin. The new skin is also temporarily more sensitive to the sun.

Chemical peeling is often used to treat fine lines under the eyes and around the mouth. Wrinkles caused by sun damage, aging and hereditary factors can often be reduced or even eliminated with this procedure. However, sags, bulges, and more severe wrinkles do not respond well to peeling and may require other kinds of cosmetic surgical procedures such as dermal fillers or Botox treatments.

Deciding if chemical peel is right for you is most commonly performed for cosmetic reasons -- to enhance your appearance and your self-confidence. Chemical peeling may be combined with IPL Skin Rejuvenation, microdermabrasion, or soft tissue fillers to achieve cost-effective skin rejuvenation customized to the needs of the individual patient. Areas of sun-damaged, precancerous keratoses or scaling patches may improve after chemical peeling. Following treatment, new lesions or patches are less likely to appear. Generally, fair skinned and light haired patients are ideal candidates for chemical peels. Darker skin types may also experience good results, depending upon the type of skin problem encountered.

Alphahydroxy acids (AHAs), such as glycolic, lactic, or fruit acids are the mildest of the peel formulas and produce light peels. These types of peels can provide smoother, brighter-looking skin. AHA peels may be used to treat fine wrinkling, areas of dryness, uneven pigmentation and acne. Various concentrations of an AHA may be applied weekly or at longer intervals to obtain the best result. An alphahydroxy acid, such as glycolic acid, can also be mixed with a facial wash or cream in lesser concentrations as part of a daily skin-care regimen to improve the skin's texture.

AHA peels may cause stinging, redness, irritation and crusting. However, as the skin adjusts to the treatment regimen, these problems will subside.

ALPHAHYDROXY ACID PEEL (AHAs) $100 per peel

Uses:

  • Smooths rough, dry skin

  • Improves texture of sun-damaged skin

  • Aids in control of acne

  • Can be mixed with bleaching agent to correct pigment problems

  • Can be used as TCA pre-treatment

Considerations:

  • A series of peels may be needed

  • As with most peel treatments, sunblock use is recommended

GETTING BACK TO NORMAL

With a peel, the temporary redness, flaking and dryness that you experience will not prevent you from working or engaging in your normal activities. A fresher and improved skin texture will result with continued treatments. Remember, protecting your skin from the sun is also important following any type peel. Think of it as 'baby' skin. You wouldn't take an infant out in the sun without protection. A sunblock with adequate UVA and UVB protection must be used every day.

This renewal process has been clinically proven to help pigmentation problems (such as age spots) fade and stimulate collagen production in the cells underneath. It is gentle enough to use every 3 weeks for maximum benefits and a glowing, healthy start to your Skincare regimen.

Resulting from as little as one peel, you will notice a renewed appearance, including:

A mild to moderate flaking occurs 2 to 3 days after the Vitalize Peel is performed and can be controlled with moisturizers. Many patients receive this procedure during their lunch hour. The Vitalize Peel is performed by a licensed medical esthetician under physician supervision and can be repeated at three weeks for maximum benefits. It is recommended as a great way to jump-start your healthy skincare routine.

Perfect Appearance Dermafile™

In place of the 'out-dated' microdermabrasion machines which utilize the micro-crystals, CFAA uses the Dermafile™ skin polishing and resurfacing tool. Dermafile™ is made of stainless steel and finely crushed genuine diamonds. This file will lightly polish the skin by hand, removing the top layer of dead skin cells, and leaving velvety smooth, fresh, rejuvenated skin. Our clients who have experienced other types of microdermabrasion treatments claim the Dermafile™ is the best treatment they've yet to experience. The technician has total control over the process, allowing varying levels of the epidermis to be safely removed. This tool may be used on any part of the body and is especially useful in treating the eye area - typically an avoidable area when using other types of microdermabrasion equipment. It is a very effective tool for treating aging and sun damaged skin, scars, acne scarring, pigmentation, stretch marks, fine lines and enlarged and clogged pores. It will also smooth rough calloused skin on elbows, knees, hands and feet. The Perfect Appearance Dermafile™ comes in four diamond grit sizes: fine, medium, coarse, and extra coarse.

Most patients will notice considerable improvement in the smoothness and tightness of their skin after several treatments. Microdermabrasion should not be considered as a replacement to other skin rejuvenation procedures, but rather, should be thought of as an adjunct to the armamentarium of skin treatments presently available. CFAA recommends, based on the client's specific needs, a series of Dermafile™ treatments combined with chemical peels, IPL treatments and a cosmeceutical skin care regimen to deliver dramatic, effective results.

Benefits:
• Virtually no side effects.
• Gives the skin an instant overall fresh, healthy-looking glow.
• Nonsurgical, safe, effective "lunch hour" procedure.
• Effective on all skin colors and types.
• No anesthetic required.
• Excellent for skin sensitive to chemical procedures.
• Normal activities can be resumed immediately.

Other Considerations:
• Requires multiple sessions and maintenance treatments.
• Patients with good skin tone will show best results.
• An individualized skin care program recommended to achieve maximize results.

After Care:

Following treatment, the skin may appear slightly pinkish for approximately 24 to 48 hours. You will be advised on post-treatment care. It is important to keep the skin well moisturized and protected with sunscreen.
